Just flew them, worst customer service ever! Changed flights without telling me, the ticketing agent told me I missed my flight that was 4 hours away. Then walked away without answering my questions. When I called them i got a very rude lady telling me it's my fault I did not call sooner as they switched me to a delta flight, after telling her it's their job to email me if there are changes and she said "I am telling you now" I will never fly with this joke of an airline.

Super inconsiderate of the guy in front. I've been on flights where FA's tell you to raise your seat for the meal service and its not a choice. Its nice as it avoids the conflict

I'm shocked. The few times I went through the process of speccing out a ticket on Zip for this same flight it was always sold out. Having said that my schedule only allows me to travel to Japan in December/January and August/September.

I’m a JAL frequent flyer card member. Learned about ZipAir in Jan. Saw a price of $209 from LAX > NRT one way ECN class. Book that flight immediately just for the price. Had a row all to myself.

$350 for a 5 hr flight, without full flat seats, and no food, is NOT a good deal. Food is bare minimum!!

ZIPAIR is great! For short hauls they offer great prices upgrades at the airport also, if you don’t mind taking a gamble on flying in economy if the flight is full. We paid ¥10,000 (US$65) from Seoul to Narita. They offer good prices for longer haul too but I wouldn’t want to take the risk of having to sit in economy for a longer flight so for longer trips we always just book in advance and the prices are still very reasonable. And a big bonus of no small kids 😂

I flew on zipair 4 times. 3 out of the 4 times, the plane was full. the 1 time the plane was near empty was a few weeks before cherry blossom season. also, recently ana and jal started lowering their prices for some SFO to NRT flights for non peak season. To the point where economy seats on JAL was within $100 rt of a Zipair flight. At those prices, I'd take the JAL flight. JAL at that point is cannabalizing itself as it owns Zipair.

I fly JAL from DFW to Haneda back on May. The meal they serve on the Premium Economy is same as economy. Terrible. Better bring your own snack

for me it was the pancake seats mixed with the cramped space on top of the extra fees I had to pay when I checked in at the counter cause there's no check in with the app (when I first used it)

I flew Zipair out of SJC last October and the flights were packed going both ways. I’m surprised to see it so empty in your video. The full flat product was exactly what I wanted and I hope other airlines follow this model. I don’t care about all the business class extras and just want to be comfortable.

My partner and I loved this option when flying to Tokyo from SFO and couldn't believe how affordable it was. Sure, it's not luxurious like JAL or ANA per se, but having so much personal space in that lie-flat was so clutch. We found the amenity kit add-on purchase not really worth the price (the pillow IMO is worthless) and would probably just bring our own blankets next time. The onboard snacks and food for purchase were so affordable and cheaper than eating in the airport! Generally though we didn't like the hot meals they had available for pre-purchase, but that's mostly due to us being vegetarian/pescetarian and having limited options. I hope this pricing model somehow survives for our next trip to Japan though!

Sorry that your plane was dirty. I've never really had this issue. The "best" seats also come with a premium beverage. If you have the Sun Country credit card (saves you half off bags and seat selection) you will also get an additional premium drink.

I love Zipair I’ve flown them probably 20 times now from sfo, san jose, Singapore, Bangkok, both full flat and economy and it’s always been great. The economy seats are empty a lot when I fly too so I hope they can survive because the price is amazing. It blows my mind people are paying 3 times this for other airlines for I guess better food 😂

I honestly think for the price It’s super worth it It’s more than 50% cheaper than the next airline that flies to Tokyo Everything is ala carte though Seat picking to checking baggage But even with all the added fees is still cheaper than Jal or Ana

I think zipair is having a pretty significant impact on the tourism industry in Japan despite the low load factors shown here.. the low cost it has created for traveling to Japan is contributing to the large tourism boom. Along with the very favorable fx rates, this has made a trip to Japan much more attainable for many than it was in the past.

Advising people to arrive later than they normally would is beyond stupid. It’s England not Japan !!

Scott, I've been a fan for awhile. I find your flying experiences informational and very funny. I flew 777-300er Newark to Rome back in Oct 2022. I was told, once I flew Polaris I'd never go back to coach. I'm flying to Sydney, Australia next April from Newark again. This time flying Polaris on 787-10 Newark to San Francisco. Then San Francisco to Sydney on a 777-300er. I love that my 15.5hr will be on a plane that I'm familiar with. Maybe I'll even get some pajamas. Thanks again for all that you do. I look forward to all your reviews

I flew Norse Atlantic for the first time last November, JFK to Gatwick, premium economy. It was one of the most enjoyable flights I’ve ever taken. Comfy seats with PLENTY of leg room! I’m flying Norse again in a few weeks (premium Econ agsin) from Gatwick to JFK. My only criticism is that they did not (probably still don’t, I’m guessing) offer online check in.

I really enjoyed this one, Zipair's cabin lie-flat product certainly is INTERESTING... 🤔 Also, turbulence can still be very dangerous no matter how much you fly or are used to it it can still be fatal, so always wear that seatbelt! Not sure I'd try Zipair lie-flat as I don't care so much about having a lie-flat product but any flight on a Japanese carrier has to be good right? if you use a soft bag like a duffle bag which is a little bigger than the definition of the size but it is soft enough to fit into their go-no-go cage, would it count as ok to use?

If you want staying power with oatmeal toss in a few nuts or a small dab of butter. Something with a few fat grams helps you feel full longer.

I did the math a while ago for an economy seat on Zipair for the LAX-NRT route. American was also flying LAX-HND, and its prices were such that even if you purchased a single option from Zipair, it made sense to just book AA instead. The experience would not be as good as a Japanese full-service airline, but you'd still get way more than on Zipair. It only made sense if you were not planning to purchase a single option (which does constitute a large amount of travelers).

We all know the controversy with seat reclining. I'm mindful when doing it but apparently the person in front of you was a dick. On Asian flights, the flight attendant asks the person to pull up the seat during meal service. Jal is the only seat I know that slides forward instead of the typical reclining back.

It's really quite depressing that a fantastic airline might not survive because people are too stuck in their ways and unwilling to take 2 minutes of basic research for a better product.

I just flew Norse JFK to BER round trip. Prices were about 1/3 of the other airlines. Jfk terminal 7 is not the best, but all of the shops were open on a late Sunday night, which was unexpected. In Berlin, the gate was T1 D17 which was in an isolated area of the terminal... but they did open the bar/ restaurant for our flight. My seats were in economy with extra legroom rows 7 and 11, which were worth the extra price to me. The row 7 seats are not great since they are next to the kitchen. There is no bulkhead in front of you for storage, and the screens are in the armrest, which means you can't lift them if the seat next to you is empty. Row 11 was better for me, even though you are behind the bathroom and hear every flush. Food was decent, crew was nice and the planes were in great shape.

Wife and I took Norwegian on honeymoon back in 2019. We got their business class for 700 bucks each. Couldn’t believe how cheap it was.
